STEPS Lacrosse President and Director of Marketing and Lacrosse at the
Indoor Sports Pavilion in Randolph, Charlie Shoulberg will serve as
assistant General Manager of the United States Men's National Team at
the 2006 International lacrosse Federation World Championships in London
Canada.
Player tryouts will be held June 13-16,
2005, at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. The 2006 ILF
World Championship will be held in London, Ontario, July 13-22. The
U.S. has won six consecutive world championships and eight of the
nine ILF championships held since 1967. The only time the U.S. has
lost in ILF outdoor championship play was the 1978 final against Canada.

Announcements
BALTIMORE - US Lacrosse has announced
the assistant coaches and support staff for the 2006 U.S. Men's Lacrosse
Team. Syracuse head coach John Desko was named as the U.S. team's
head coach in December. The U.S. will compete in the 2006 International
Lacrosse Federation World Championship in Canada.
Dave Urick, chair of the coaches selection
committee, named Mike Caravana, Matt Kerwick and Scott Marr as assistant
coaches. Chris Hupfeldt, general manager of the 2006 U.S. Men's Team,
named the following individuals to support staff positions: Billy
Rebman, Baldwin, N.Y. (assistant general manager); Charlie Shoulberg,
Morristown, N.J. (assistant general manager); Jimmy Butler, E. Patchogue,
N.Y. (equipment manager); John Jez, Ossining, N.Y. (equipment manager);
Bill Mills, Glenolden, Pa. (trainer); Anthony Ortolano, East Nassau,
N.Y. (trainer); and Dr. Vito Perriello, Charlottesville, Va. (physician).
A second physician will be named in the near future.
Caravana is the head coach at Denison
University where he has compiled a record of 130-61 in 14 seasons.
Caravana, a four-time All-American as a player at Virginia, has led
the Big Red to seven NCAA Division III tournament appearances, including
semifinal trips in 1999 and 2001. Seven different times Caravana has
led the Big Red to at least 10 victories.
Kerwick is entering his fourth season
as the head coach at Hobart College. Kerwick has led the Statesmen
to two NCAA Division I tournament berths. Previously the head coach
at Alfred University and Randolph-Macon College, Kerwick has a career
record of 72-54. Kerwick was a two-time All-American at Hobart, helping
the Statesmen to four consecutive NCAA Division III championships.
Marr has been the head coach at the
University at Albany since the 2001 season and has led the Great Danes
to consecutive NCAA Division I tournament appearances and America
East championships. Marr was an assistant coach at Maryland for six
seasons, helping the Terrapins to three NCAA championship games. As
a player, Marr was a member of Johns Hopkins' 1987 national championship
team and the 1989 NCAA runner-up squad.
Rebman was an assistant general manager
for the 2002 U.S. Men's Team and has served as the president/general
manager of the DUKE/TOBAY Lacrosse Club in the United States Club
Lacrosse Association since 1982. He served on the executive board
of the USCLA from 1991 to 1999.
Shoulberg is currently director of
marketing and lacrosse programs for the Indoor Sports Pavilion in
Randolph, N.J. He also serves as president of S.T.E.P.S. Lacrosse.
The former All-American from Ithaca spent two years as the assistant
general manager for the New Jersey Pride of Major League Lacrosse.
Shoulberg is originally from Mountain Lakes New Jersey and curretnly
is the second Vice President of the New Jersey Lacrosse Foundation.
Butler was an equipment manager for
the 2002 U.S. Men's Team and since 1990 has served as general manager
and coach of the Suffolk Lacrosse Club in the USCLA. Butler, the owner
of Lacrosse Unlimited of Manhasset, currently serves as president
of the USCLA.
Jez was the equipment manager at Pace
University from 1997 to 2004, serving as head men's lacrosse coach
at the school for the 2003 and 2004 seasons. Pace finished in the
top 10 in NCAA Division II both years and led the nation in scoring
in 2003. He was an assistant at Pace and Fairfield before taking the
head coaching job at Pace.
Mills was a trainer for the 2002 U.S.
Men's Team and has worked with a variety of professional sports teams,
including the Philadelphia Wings and the Philadelphia Eagles. He has
served as the head athletic trainer at Malvern Prep since 1987 and
is the owner of Keystone Sports Medicine, LLC.
Ortolano has served as the head athletic
trainer at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute since 1985 and was previously
the head trainer at SUNY-Plattsburgh and Union College. Ortolano has
served as a trainer at numerous other events, including the Empire
State Games and since 1994 has served as the head athletic trainer
for the Summit Lacrosse Tournament in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Dr. Perriello has worked as part of
the Pediatric Associates of Charlottesville, LLC practice since 1971.
He is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the US Lacrosse
Sports Science and Safety Committee and is the chair of the Sports
Medical Advisory Committee for the National Federation of State High
School Associations. He has been affiliated with Martha Jefferson
Hospital since 1971, serving on the hospital's Board of Directors
and Chief of Pediatrics.
Player tryouts will be held June 13-16,

in the near future.
